eighty minutes online at the mechanics' library went by very quickly. immersed, in the flow.
sought our fritz leiber's our lady of darkness on the second floor shelves. spent quality time with it, got a sense of it, wrote down key words, magic words. speaking of that phrase - took out a book with that title yesterday from the s.f. public by one craig conley, and it's proving interesting. also, at the same time took out a memoir, erotic and magical, by phyllis curott, a wiccan priestess, as well as lawyer.
but before taking the fritz leiber book from the shelves, out walking in the day's gentle rain, looking for a bottle of the venom energy drink i like. nothing else would do, and it took a while of walking to locate a source. 10:47am, out in the inclement weather. had an hour and 25 minutes until the 1000 howard gallery opened so i could check out photographs by friend mark ellinger, of san francisco. has six pieces up, along with other work by others, other visual work. and still no call from my odd fellow brother p. in terms of work.
did a check on finances: ten dollars and 95 cents - three-55 for bart fare back to south san fran, 2 bucks for bus fare after bart, leaving five-forty. into a walgreens, looking for the venom, but no dice there, but got a buck bag of twisty flavored corn chips. on the sound system, must've been leon russell doing his "a song for you", beautiful tune. could've been a cover, but sounded like the original.
continued my venom search in the financial distraction...mail man singing a bit, and i said to him: "singing in the rain, huh?" and he said something about doing that anyway.
into another walgreens at sansome and bush, found the brand i wanted, at the low price of two-19, not including tax. venoms, have bought them for, like, two-75. someone talking to another while i was in line, said "is he okay?", but thought it was "is he opaque?" - that would be a usable line for something.
and noted to myself that i forgot to send an e-mail that had gone out in a changed font, in the algerian kind that i like. plus, would have balanced the text towards the center, making the whole thing nice and exotic.
and speaking of brands, in particular the stewart kind - back to the mechanics' - had decided to get our lady of darkness and sit in one of the comfy second floor chairs reading. going in, saw a display copy of brand's new book whole earth discipline, and requested it online. didn't have to have it right away - besides, it looked like the copy was already taken out.
then to a nice chair - i tell you, it's only about a quarter a day for a year's membership at the mechanics', basically, and that is a crazy good deal...to a round table, four comfy chairs around it - a quadripartite situation. while taking a bath this morning ruminated about the "triumvirate" situation with three people - a good form of conversation as well as decision-making. for one thing, any two can keep tabs on the third. the four thing is a different dynamic.
thought then of three others, three jessicas, who'd be a fantastic part of a "four thing": alba, biel, simpson. simpson on my mind because of the mention in today's kitty raymond celeb column - her daddy's not happy 'cause an ex of hers commented in playboy about how jessica's "sexual napalm" in the ol' sack-a-roonie. and i suppose elsewhere, given this perhaps unhyperbolic description of her sensual capabilities. and biel, alba, both superfuckable, even tho' alba's a mommy now. but a sexy one for sure.
took a few notes from our lady of darkness...a character is a black magician and socialite...there's a fictional book in the story called megapolismancy, concerned with "the science of cities". also, another book, an early journal of clark ashton smith, is part of the plot.
took myself a swig of the venom, tho' was aware i was in the view of a woman i think is a librarian. part of what i like about venom is the screw-on cap, to prevent spillage, even when walking and jostling it. tho' it's carbonated, and some came out of the top anyway, onto the carpet, hissing. which is appropriate - snake metaphor used in the art and text.

Hey, that's cool that you checked out my dictionary of magic words. I'd be delighted to hear which words you liked or found useful.
