paid ten dollars for the 25 dollar barry miles hippie book - at the little store at the main s.f. public library. been wanting it for a while. a true coffee table volume. barry miles an interesting countercultural journalist type, would recommend pretty much anything by him. especially the william burroughs bio he penned.
not sure if the craiglist casual encounters men seeking women section is for me, but possibly. at least it can incite some fantasies of some kind, some visualizations. one listing is headlined: "looking for a relationship. those still exist, right?"
looked kombucha up online for a friend - talking to him yesterday, i said something about gnc actually selling the stuff. kombucha must work for bodybuilders, 'cause their main line of product seems to be whey-based muscle building powders.
looked up also meher baba. was looking at a black and white clip of ram dass - then richard alpert - talking about lsd. poster of baba in the background. title for the clip is "there is no they".
look up "iain sinclair motiveless walking arthur magazine" for what looks like a very good article about the benefits of walking without any specific purpose. this also recommended, i think, by julia cameron in her artist's way book about enhancing one's creativity.
also look up "robin dunbar arthur magazine" for an article about how throughout history the number of meaningful friendships that can be had by anyone is only about one hundred and fifty, putting the lie to the facebook/social networking thing about having thousands of "friends". that'd be a challenge for me, to keep even somewhat track of that many people - let's say, put that many names of people on index cards - even a hundred - they usually come in packs of a hundred - note down even those one has had even a passing acquaintance with. consider the challenge of keeping even passingly in mind that many.
the urban dictionary a good source for 45 definitions of the word "aight" - one syllable, as in "alright". related word: "nawmean" - for "know what i mean?
much impressed with sasha grey, porn star. friend will be able to get me a copy of the girlfriend experience, directed by steven soderberg.
related to sasha grey, the armory, on mission at, like, 14th, the kink.com porn work done there. guess it's still going on - some ballyhoo about the presence there of that sort of business. i think, if possible, she wants to move away from that genre into a more godardian mode - she's a huge fan of the french helmer, models herself on dude's muse anna karina.
the beat museum in north beach to have a sixties countercultral extensive exhibit the later part of this year, starting in june, so that's something. will doubtless visit and see the memorabilia, take the trip, so to speak.
friend e-mailed me wondering about when zakir hussain, tabla master, is gonna perform in san francisco. looked it up - in march, at the herbst. that would be quite the mesmerizing show.
friend e-mailed me about the johnny funcheap site, with fun and cheap things to do in the city. fun and cheap cervical mucus would be okay to gain access to. my one-track mind's fixating a bit on vaginal secretions, but that's just me.
an odd fellow brother drew my attention to a person who's involved with the flying actor studio in s.f. - some sort of performance venue. heavy on the mime, i think. i of course support such an endeavor. i can be a bit theatrical myself, but just walking down the street and for fun. and cheap. but wouldn't care to do anything in some formal class setting. not my way.
looking through a site of text and photos by friend mark ellinger - did work on thundercrack!, was an extra in resurrection of eve, the mitchell brothers porn flick, among many other creative ventures...so that's something meaningful to me. see his up from the deep site for great snaps of the city. he also did something related to rime of the ancient mariner. looking it up - '77 orson welles 42-minute movie based on the famous poem. so that's a pretty decent item on one's resume, no?
